O'CONNELL, Mary (née Donovan) (Rathgar, Dublin and formerly of the HSE, Rialto and Stoneybatter and member of The Old Dublin Society) April 7, 2020. It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Mary, after a long illness borne with wit and style. Mary was beloved wife of the late Michael and a treasured mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, grand-aunt, sister-in-law, friend, neighbour and colleague. Mary’s death is mourned by her children Deirdre and Feargal, their partners Louise and Aoife, her adored grandchildren Florence, Doireann and Frank, by her brothers and sisters Monica, Carmel, Paul, Peter and David and their families. Mary died in Our Lady’s Hospice Harold’s Cross, where she was cared for with great skill and compassion. With heartfelt thanks also to the St. James’s Hospital medical oncology team and the staff in Private 1. We will always remember their goodness. Reposing in private. Funeral will be for immediate family only due to Government restrictions. We will celebrate Mary’s life with all family and friends once these restrictions are lifted. Donations, if desired, to Concern or the Peter McVerry Trust.
