GIBBONS - Martin (ex ESB), (Parknahown, Cullohill Laois died very peacefully May 8, 2021). Martin’s wife Marie, his children Diarmuid (Jim), Maeve, Brendan, Sheila and Martin, his grandchildren and extended family want to say many thanks to neighbours, friends and everyone who showed such great kindness to us when Martin died. We were greatly comforted by the mass cards, sympathy cards, phone calls, letters and messages of condolences. It was moving to see so many friends and neighbours along Parknahown Lane, in the village and the Church grounds saying goodbye to Martin on his final journey. Our sincere thanks to Reverend Fr Tom McGree for celebrating Martin’s Mass so meaningfully and to Right Reverend Archdeacon Sean O’Doherty for his presence and support. Our deep gratitude and appreciation to everyone who made the Church and surrounds look so lovely and to the choir whose beautiful singing, as usual, enriched the ceremony. A special word of thanks to Paul for his warm and touching clarinet playing. To Kieran O’Sullivan thank you for your compassionate and professional handling of the funeral arrangements. Thank you also to Sheila Maher for looking after us all so well. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the Mater Private Hospital who for many years took such good care of Martin in a professional and kindly manner. Heartfelt thanks also to the doctors, nurses, paramedics and porters in St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny who made his final days most comfortable and facilitated his family to remain with him to the end.

Finally, to Dr Eilis Maher and staff of Johnstown Medical Centre a big thank you for being so helpful to Martin over the years. Martin was and continues to be a very special person in all our lives. As it is so difficult to thank everyone individually, we trust this notice will be accepted as a token of our profound gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
