Condolences

I first met Eoin when he came to work at Roche about four years ago. We worked very closely together and I considered him a close friend. When I came to Boston last year my first thought was dinner with Eoin. He was also the person I turned to when I had medical and most specifically virology questions. He helped me during some difficult times and with me being a statistician, he was always wanting to discuss the latest data. He was such a kind person but very respected. I will miss him and his humor. I wish his family all the best. Rest in Peace my friend.

Dear Marianne, Gary, Daragh, Raymond and family-

My husband Bill and I extend our sincere heartfelt condolences to Marianne, Gary, Daragh and Raymond on the loss of dear Eoin, a special friend of ours. I first met Eoin at Tufts and was struck by his brilliance and his outstanding research in HIV. I had the great fortune to work with him again at AbbVie for three years and that was when our friendship solidified. I learned not only that he was an outstanding researcher but also a master gardener and photographer. I was thrilled to hear he was moving back to Massachusetts. My husband Bill and I spent several wonderful dinners at his glorious home in Marshfield where Eoin would proudly give us a tour of his magnificent gardens and we would take long walks with Evie and Sophie at the cranberry bogs. My husband, being Irish, of course loved Eoin’s brogue, his hilarious stories and fantastic sense of humor. The whole family got to meet him on Thanksgiving 2018, which was a very special day I will hold dearly in my memory. We will think of Eoin every time we see a magnificent garden or hear an Irish brogue. We will miss his brilliant sense of humor, his compassion, and his contagious laughter.

Family of Eoin
My deepest sympathies and condolences. I wish I had words to heal the pain of Eoin’s sudden and unexpected passing. It is a tragic loss to the world. He was taken far too soon. The intensity of the grief and heartache is a testament to the amazing human he was. Eoin and I met 15 years ago as work colleagues in San Francisco, but our friendship grew and lasted beyond our time in San Francisco. He was a very dear friend, who was there for me not only in good times, but also through some very challenging times. I miss him and am beyond heartbroken to know he is gone. It is so unfair. Everyone who knew him knew what a beautiful light he was in this world. He was brilliant, kind and effortlessly hilarious. Life is much darker and sadder now without him. I am devastated that Covid stole our last chance to get together in real life. I was so fortunate and blessed to have known him and will always be grateful for our friendship and the times we shared. I try to find some comfort in picturing him happily reunited with Sophie and Evie; going for long walks and taking beautiful pictures, while hoping the girls don’t go chasing after any skunks. I will cherish his memory always.
