We would like to thank our wonderful families, friends and neighbours for all of the love and support that we have received as a family, we will be forever grateful to you all. We would like to say a special thank you to Naomh Mearnóg GAA club and Suttonians RFC for the guard of honour at Dermot’s funeral Mass and for the ongoing support shown to us by both clubs that Dermot was very proud to be associated with as someone that loved GAA and Rugby. We would also like to thank Dermot’s other family, his work family, Transaction Network Services (TNS) we thank you for all of your support through Dermot’s illness and the support you have shown to us as a family since his passing. We would also like to thank the National Transport Authority and all Jennifer’s work colleagues for all of the support shown to her at this difficult time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful stories of Dermot with us as a family which continue to remind us of how he was the best husband, father, son, brother and friend to all that met him. Whatever you did to comfort us, be it messages, telephone calls, flowers, cards or attending his wake or funeral in person we really appreciated your presence. The kindness shown is something that will never be forgotten and is treasured by us all.
We will be forever grateful to the wonderful staff of the Blackrock Clinic and in particular all of the staff of the Nightingale ward who cared for Dermot through his illness – you all have a special place in our hearts. A special word of thanks to St. Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown who are minding us all as a family. We would like to thank Fr. Paul O’ Driscoll for giving Dermot such a wonderful send off on his final journey and allowing us all to celebrate his life. We would also like to thank An Garda Siochána for escorting Dermot home to us and for bringing him to his final resting place. This was a very special gesture and will not be forgotten. To Staffords Funeral Home, this may be the job you do each day but we cannot thank you enough for helping us make all of the arrangements and for just being there for us and making it happen the way we wanted.
Everyone’s kindness to us will never be forgotten.
