ROONEY, (Glasnevin, Dublin) - December 10, 2013, (peacefully), at The Mater Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness, bravely borne with courage. John, beloved husband of Dolores and father of Fran, John, Joseph, Dermot, Imelda, and the late Raymond and Anne Marie; late of Jones Group, ESB and St Patrick's CYMS, Ringsend. Deeply regretted by his loving wife, sons, daughter, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace. Requiem Mass tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock, in the Church of Our Lady of Dolours, Glasnevin followed by burial in Dean's Grange cemetery. House strictly private. No flowers please. Donations instead, if desired, to The Mater Hospital Cancer Appeal. "Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis"

<p>from georgie rooney and family</p> <p>we are all very sad at the loss of uncle john. my dad georgie has the warmest memories of his brother john and when he talks of him its of deep pride that he has been in his life. he has always said that he was the father figure in their family and was someone to look up to and learn from. as his niece martina i wish i had of known him more because everything i have heard is all good. also would love to know his family more too. my dad loved him and misses him probably more than i know. to johns family would like to say that we are thinking of you all and hope you have the support you need to get through this time take care all our love george kay martina david paddy george catherine alan mark and desmond</p>
