Seven years ago today, Father Sean left us to be with The Lord. I first met Canon McTernan in early 1971, when, as a small boy, my mother would regularly take me to Sunday Mass at St. Teresa's, Birmingham. Even from an early age, I enjoyed listening to Fr. Sean's sermons: he always wanted his congregation to share in his joy and love for The Lord, our Saviour. It may have been my youthful imagination, but St. Teresa's always seemed to be packed, whenever Fr. Sean led the Mass! Along with my late Mother, Fr. Sean has been the greatest influence on my religous development. I shall never forget him; and hope, one day, to be able to pay my respects in person.

Today is the 5th anniversary of your passing, Fr. Sean, and I, along with many other parishioners of St. Teresa’s, Perry Barr, continue to pray for your soul. I cannot imagine your joy, being with Christ our Saviour. Rest in peace.

He was my priest growing up at St Teresa’s, so sad to only now hear of his death. He was such a character, and a truly lovely person.
