Mary, Siobhán, Deirdre and extended family would like to acknowledge with sincere gratitude and appreciation all those who sympathised and supported us on our recent sad loss. The numerous letters, cards, phone calls and texts that we received provided immense comfort during a most difficult time. We were overwhelmed and touched by the vast amount of messages left on the condolence pages of Rip.ie and it was especially heart-warming to read the many memories recalled by his former students of whom he was so fond. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions in April, we were unable to give Tom the funeral that he deserved. However, a special thank you to Miriam Hunt for her beautiful music at Tom’s funeral Mass, which strengthened our hearts on the most difficult day. Thank you to Pat and Gillian Smyth, Funeral Directors, for your professionalism and expertise and for your support in the weeks that followed. Thank you to Tom’s teaching colleagues, past-pupils, friends, neighbours and the members of Roscommon Golf Club who lined the streets of Roscommon with a guard of honour from the church to the cemetery. Your show of support was incredibly moving and is a memory that we will always cherish. A special word of thanks to Fr. Pravin Dhason for celebrating the funeral Mass and making it so personal, comforting and meaningful. The family would also like to extend our thanks to An Garda Síochána, the Paramedics for all your efforts, and the gravediggers for preparing Tom’s final resting place.
