WHELAN, Joan (née Gaughan), (Goatstown, Dublin 14), died on October 7, 2017. The family of the late Joan wish to most sincerely thank everyone who supported us and sympathised with us on Joan's very sad passing one month ago. We are very grateful to all those who attended the reposing, the Funeral Mass and Joan's Ceremony in Mount Jerome Cemetery; and to those who sent cards, letters and messages of sympathy. We are very thankful to all her friends who came from France, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, the United States and throughout Ireland to attend Joan's Funeral; to Fr. Dick Quinn CSSP and Fr. Joe Brennan SJ who concelebrated Joan's Funeral Mass with wonderful memories of her life; to the soloist, Simon Morgan, and the organist who accompanied the Mass with beautiful music; and to the many readers who reflected on Joan and her life. We also greatly appreciate all the help given by Joan's carers in the last years of her life; the staff of St. Vincent's University Hospital who looked after Joan in the last weeks of her life; and Fanagans Funeral Directors for their handling of Joan's funeral arrangements. Joan is sadly missed and will always be in our hearts.

I am very saddened to read that my cousin Joan died 5 years ago. She was a kind loving person who reached out to everyone including her Galway cousins . I am just sorry that we were never contacted or told about her passing which I know she would have appreciated. May she rest in peace.
