MULKERNS KENNEDY, Val, February 14, 1925 – March 10, 2018, (Dalkey, Co. Dublin). Scholar, teacher, traveller, author, journalist, critic, broadcaster, raconteur, fast friend, (peacefully), in the serene loving care of Ferndene, Blackrock, Co. Dublin. Pre-deceased by our adored father, Maurice. Mother to Maev, Conor and Myles, daughter-in-law Nora, grandmother to Roisin, Samuel, Cadhla and Fiachra, aunt to Ciaran, Helena, Douglas and Heather. Feminist before the word was invented, knee ever unbent before authority of any kind, mighty soul. Removal today (Monday), from her home to the Church of the Assumption, Dalkey for 5.30pm. Funeral Mass tomorrow (Tuesday), at 10am followed by cremation in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross arriving for 12.30pm. She’ll be missed.
