SAVILLE - Bruce Austin, December 5, 1944 October 13, 2025. It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Bruce Austin Saville of Edmonton, Alberta, on October 13, 2025. Bruce was born in Toronto, Ontario, on December 5, 1944, auspiciously during one of the citys worst snowstorms. He passed away at the age of 80, surrounded by the compassionate care of the doctors and nurses at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Bruce was a prominent figure in the Canadian business and sporting communities and a deeply generous philanthropist, one of Gods angels, whose impact on the City of Edmonton will be felt for generations. Though his professional accomplishments in Canada, the USA, Ireland, England and beyond were many, Bruces greatest devotion was always to his family. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy, his partner and best friend of 27 years; his brother, Brian (Carol); his sister, Elaine (Gord); his children, Curtis (Nancy), Sarah (Jeff), Shannon (James), and Kennedy (Thea); Cathys children, Karston, Travis (Courtney), and Kyle; and his cherished grandchildren: Camille, Ayla, Noelle, Ray, Ben, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Hartley, Siena, Norris, Harrison, and William. Bruce is also survived by Curtis and Sarahs mother Anne Marie Corney (Andy) and Shannon and Kennedys mother Dale Sheard (Chris). He was predeceased by his parents Milner and Nancy (Austin), his paternal grandparents Harris Saville and Edith Dee, and his maternal grandparents John and Nana Austin. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses on Unit 33 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness following Bruces back surgery. Bruces funeral will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1.00pm at the Horowitz Events Centre (SUB Building), 8900114 Street, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruces memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (bloodcancers.ca) Kaleo Collective (kaleocollective.ca) two causes close to his heart.
