THOMPSON, Rodney, Religious Hermit, died peacefully at Oaklodge Nursing Home, Churchtown South, Cork, on January 14th 2024. Formerly a monk of Downside Abbey, Somerset, UK. Thirty years a hermit in Roundstone and ten years sacristan in Clifden, Co. Galway and regular visitor to the family home at Ballintubbrid, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork. Deeply loved by sister Pam, brother Ken, extended family and close friends in Connemara and Cork. Reposing at Hyde's Funeral Home, Midleton, Co. Cork, on today (Wednesday) from 6pm - 7.30pm. Requiem Mass at 2pm on tomorrow (Thursday) in St Mary’s Church, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, after which Rodney will be laid to rest with his parents, Geoffrey and Eileen Thompson, at St. Mary’s Cemetery Carrigtwohill. May perpetual light shine upon him
