BYRNE, Gerard (Lucan, Co. Dublin) October 14, 2017 (suddenly) at home. Beloved father of Mark and Philip and partner of Annette. Sadly missed by his loving family, his brothers Frank, Kevin and John, sister Bernadette, Mark’s partner Seol, his nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and fellow musicians. Rest in Peace. Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Aungier Street, today (Wednesday) with family in attendance from 5.30 pm. until 7.30 pm. Funeral Mass tomorrow (Thursday) at 11.30 am. in St. Teresa’s Church, Clarendon Street, followed by burial at Glasnevin Cemetery.
BYRNE - Breda, Mary and Jane, sisters of the late Fr Gerard (Gerry) Byrne, Chaplain, Blackrock Clinic, together with his nephews, nieces, and extended family, with heartfelt appreciation thank all who were of such support at the time of Fr. Gerry's illness and death. Those who expressed sympathy, sent Mass cards, letters, texts, flowers and tributes on social media. Neighbours and friends who lined the streets at the time of Fr. Gerry's Covid-19 restricted funeral. To colleagues and friends at Blackrock Clinic, you were family to him, thanks for caring for him so well. Gratitude to staff at St. Vincent's Private Hospital, to Mr. Ray McDermott, the St Francis Hospice Team, Carers, Andrew and Jenny, Dr. Vincent Walsh, his GP, the Spiritan Community at Blackrock College, Ordination Class of '79, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, Bishop Eamonn Walsh, Bishop Raymond Field, his fellow priests and Canon John McNamara and Parish Team, Balbriggan. His treasured friends at the Forty Foot, High Loft Painting Group, Pier Walkers, and to McNally's Funeral Directors. Buíochas to all. Mass will be offered for your intentions.
