A special friend...

As a part of the group of long-time friends on holiday with Iona in Roatan, we got to share many special moments with her. We watched as she joyfully swam with dolphins, fearlessly fed fresh leaves to hordes of hungry iguanas, and delighted in snorkeling with fish and eels among the coral. But, most treasured for us will be our memories of simply spending time with her, experiencing in abundance her humor, intellect, generosity and affection. Iona was a special woman and a special friend. We miss her.

Sheila and David Crumrine

Skokie, Illinois, USA

Remembering Iona's spirit

We met Iona in 1967 when she and Albert came to the University of Wisconsin in Madison for Albert’s postdoctoral study. We were among the twelve friends from those Wisconsin days on holiday in Roatan, Honduras when she unexpectedly died.

Iona was devoted to her family, her friends, and to using science to improve people’s lives. We feel privileged to have known her and will miss her wisdom, common sense, and hearty spirit.

Bea and Lynn Sousa

Muncie, Indiana, USA
