As a trainee I once asked Darby if I should wear my specs when flying. When I said "no", he replied "Then no need...there's less traffic up here". A gentleman, loved and respected by all who flew with him. Declan Long

As a 17 year-old in the FCA 67 years ago, Darby took me up in a Tiger-Moth, looping the loop, falling out of formation and cutting the engine before a dive! A thrilling day for lad which I remember to today.

Aviation has indeed lost a great treasure. Captain Kennedy taught my father how to be an airman back in 1980 at WESTON. May he keep on flying with the angels. N. S. Ngomane

Fond memories,Darby taught me to"stir the porridge" whole learning to fly in Tiger Moths on the grass strips of Weston. He flew his D H Dragon from which he dropped us first members of The Irish Parachute Club.
