ROLAND-CUNNINGHAM, Sheila, (Foxrock, Dublin 18) May 11, 2021 (peacefully) in the skilful care of the staff in St. Vincent’s Ward, St Vincent’s University Hospital after a debilitating illness. Beloved and devoted wife of Martin Cunningham, daughter of the late Dr Bartholomew (“Batty”) Roland of Ballyshea (Craughwell, Co Galway) and Noreen (“Nodie”) née Hogan late of Fortfield Road, Terenure and sister of the late Maurice. Sadly missed by her husband, sister-in-law Fionnuala, niece Emma and her partner Joe, nephew Nicholas and his wife Carrie and by her great nephew and great nieces. Fondly remembered by colleagues and generations of students at St. Paul’s College, Raheny, by fellow examiners for the Leaving Certificate Oral Examination in Spanish, by former committee members of the Association of Teachers of Spanish and by fellow choristers in The Gaudete Singers and other Choral ensembles. Sheila’s Funeral will take place under current Government guidelines tomorrow, Tuesday, (May 18th ) at 11am in St Joseph’s Church, Glasthule and may be viewed online by clicking www.churchservices.tv/glasthule with cremation taking place after Mass in Mount Jerome Crematorium. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Polio Survivors Ireland (www.polio.ie) or The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (www.imnda.ie)

Very sad, Sheila was brilliant to all of us at St Paul’s College Raheny. Ruled with an iron fist, humour and compassion as our year head from 2003-2009 before retiring. Delighted to have known her. RIP Sheila - Stephen Darbey
