Ruarc Gahan Memories

My memories of Ruarc Gahan who was headmaster at Sutton Park School when I was there in the 60s and early 70s are vivid and unforgettable. He made it possible for many children who did not easily fit in or do what was expected of them to thrive when others would not give them the time. The sound of his voice, calm, authoritative yet warm as we would arrive at his study for a chat is as clear today as it was then. Catherine, I remember you too. Please rest assured that he helped to give us wings at an incredibly important time of our lives. My thanks for all that he did.

Pam Dix

Woking, Surrey

Memories of Ruarc Gahan

My memories of Ruarc Gahan are all very, very, good ones - a really great man with a vision beyond his time. A big memory of a personaility that was unique and so, so liberal for his day. So many years later, I was only twelve when I Sutton Park, but I have enormous respect for what he was and what he did for the schooland all of us.

I well remember his kindness in one particular conversation nearly fifty years ago when I was a very shy young boy…

Condolences to all the family

Ian Dix

Sydney

Australia
