à CINNÃIDE - Séamus (Rathmines, formerly Glenties, Co. Donegal).

On Séamus’s first anniversary (13th of November) his wife, Moira Higgins, and their daughters, Bríd, Áine and Caitlín, would like to express their sincere gratitude to all those who sympathised with and supported them at the time of their sad loss, especially his dear friends, neighbours and extended family. Thank you to all those who attended his wake and funeral Masses both in Dublin and Glenties – including from Maynooth University, RTÉ, NDA and DFA – and to those who sent thoughtful letters, Mass cards and messages of sympathy. We would also like to express our appreciation to the President of Ireland for his public statement on the death of Séamus, and for being represented at the funeral by his Aide de Camp. We are very grateful to all those who made his funeral so special: celebrant Fr. Dermod McCarthy; the Dublin Male Voice Choir under director Charles Marshall; soloist Aisling Lakes; and Professor Maurice Devlin, who delivered the eulogy. Thank you to Fr. Gerard Cunningham, P.P. Parish of Iniskeel, Fr. Francis McLoone, and musicians Tara Connaghan and Peter Campbell, for a special homecoming in St. Connell's Church, Glenties. We would like to convey our deep appreciation to Dr. Rupert Barry, Professor Elisabeth Vandenberghe and the nursing staff in St. James’s Hospital for their unfailing kindness, and also to his ever attentive public health nurses, Rita Heffernan and Doris Hamilton.

Our thanks also to Frank McGuinness, Funeral Director, Glenties, for his care and attention.

Please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our heartfelt gratitude as we remember our beloved Séamus.
