McCARTHY Dr Frank, 3 April 2012 - Frank's wife Mary (née Downey), his daughters Deirdre-Ann, Bairbre and Úna and their families, his brothers, sisters and extended family, wish to thank all of you who supported Frank during his illness and who rallied round us when his sudden and untimely death left us reeling. We are immensely grateful to all who took the time to contact us and to share your memories of Frank which have made us laugh as well as cry. We are humbled by the widespread support, both practical and emotional you have given us. Patients were an integral part of Castlefarm life and we know you share our loss on Dr Frank's death. We thank you for letting us grieve privately in the early days. We were overwhelmed by the numbers of family, friends, patients and colleagues who attended Frank's funeral and gave him such a fantastic send-off. As an unassuming man, he never realised how greatly loved he was or how much we would all miss him. We would like to particularly thank Fr Richard Hyland, Fr Frank Raeburn, Fr Cyril Mangan, Sr Patrick, Michael Rock and An Garda Siochana Traffic Corps for their help in organising the funeral and for so much more. Helen Dignam and Anne McDonagh ensured the music was joyful and celebrated Frank's life. Thank you for your generosity in making donations to the Irish Cancer Society in Frank's name. A reluctant patient, Frank got the confidence to beat cancer from the wonderful Mater Hospital team led by Prof John Crowe, Anne Brannigan, Cliona O'Kelly, David Gallagher and Anne Gribbin. It is our great sadness that by April 2012, his big heart had already lived a lifetime. Thank you all. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
