O’BRIEN KELLY - MAEVE (née Kelly) 2 July, 1930 - 1 August, 2025. Clonevin, Pass Road, Redgate, Limerick. Renowned author who passed peacefully in the care of Riverdale Nursing Home, Blackwater, Ardnacrusha, Co. Clare. Maeve was previously cared for in her own home by devoted carers. Deeply mourned by her loving son Joe and his partner Alison and by her brother Brian Kelly. Much loved by her grandchildren George, Oliver and Sophie, her nieces and nephews, relatives and extended family. Maeve will be greatly missed by her many close friends and will be remembered for her immense contribution to the Irish and International literary canon and for her involvement as a founding member and director of Adapt House Women’s Refuge Limerick. Her life and work demonstrate her absolute conviction of the rights of women. Predeceased by her husband Gerard, beloved daughter Oonagh, siblings Pam, Sheila and Seamus. Funeral arriving at St. Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Avenue, Limerick, on Thursday, 7 August, for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in Kilmurry Cemetery, Castletroy, Limerick.
