SWEENEY, (Sunday’s Well, Cork and formerly of Clougherna, Ballyliffin, Co. Donegal and Bloomsbury, London), August 5, 2018, (peacefully) at the Cork University Hospital where he was surrounded by his loving family. Matthew, cherished partner of Mary Noonan, much loved father of Nico and Malvin and dear brother of Páid, Damhnait and the late Blaithín. Sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren Nell and Jude, son in law Colm, Aunt Nell, Nico and Malvin's mother Rosemary, extended family and his many friends in the poetry world. A celebration of his life and his poetry will take place on Wednesday in the Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street, Cork City from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Matthew’s burial will take place on Thursday at 2.00pm in Clonmany New Cemetery, Co. Donegal where all are welcome to attend.
