Peacefully, in his 94th year, at Rosepark, Blackrock surrounded by his devoted carers and friends. Predeceased by his wives Stephanie, Mairead Dunlevy and Borghild Lieng and his sister Dorothy. Fondly missed by his son Fintan, stepdaughter Anne (Childs), grandchildren Jessica and John (England), Katherine and Stephanie (Canada), godson Cian (Siggins), and his many friends in Ireland and Norway. Arthur will be remembered for his wit, wisdom, his love of the sea, his mastery of the newspaper headline and the epitaph he refashioned: “Pass on by, Death horseman, Cast a life, On cold eye.” We greatly appreciate the support of Rosepark and his wonderful care team. A Humanist Ceremony and celebration of his life will take place at 9.45am on Wednesday, March 15th in The Garden Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W. A great man and best friend to my father the late Tony Geraghty, may he rest in peace

I first met Arthur after he posted a copy of the first issue of the Irish Skipper to my former home address at 2 Trafalgar Road, Greystones, after our family had moved to England three years earlier. A young fisherman, by then crewing on the first Irish Research vessel, the Cú Feasa, i had little trouble finding my way to Arthur's then home overlooking Coliemore harbour in Dalkey. We became lifelong friends, not least after I became manager of Syversen trawl/Swan Net Ltd in Killybegs in the late 1970s. May he rest in peace.
