NUGENT, Stephen Michael (peacefully) on December 13, 2017 at St Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada surrounded by his five daughters. Steve was born in Dublin, Ireland on September 23, 1930, the second son of Bernard (Barney) Nugent and Margaret Nalty. Following completion of medical school and a residency program in psychiatry, he married Maeve Walsh in 1958 and five daughters quickly followed. Steve’s practice took his family to London, England and Perth, Australia and then to Canada – settling first in London, Ontario and finally in Toronto. Steve took great pleasure in his family, and his charm, humour and deep interest in people attracted all who met him. Steve is survived by his former wife, Maeve, daughters, Fiona (Carl), Deirdre, Helen (Jim), Sheena and Olivia (Don), and four grandsons Conor, Devlin, Liam and Oliver – all of Toronto. Brother of Jim (deceased 2011) and uncle to Maureen (Joe), Anne (Paul), Kate (David) and James Nugent. At Steve’s request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will take place in early 2018 in Toronto. Please email celebrationforsteve@gmail.com for details.
