O'HIGGINS, Sister Mary Kevin ODC (Maev), precious member for 75 years of the Carmelite Communities of Blackrock, Sweetman’s Ave, and Monastery of St Joseph, Upper Kilmacud Road. Born in Government Buildings on June 7, 1923, daughter of the late Kevin O’Higgins and Brigid O’Higgins née Cole and stepdaughter of the late Arthur Cox. Beloved sister of the late Finbar O’ Higgins and Una O’Higgins O’Malley; sister-in-law of the late Eoin O’Malley. Deeply mourned by the Sisters of her Kilmacud Community and wider Carmelite family also by her loving nephews Kevin, Eoin, Art, Chris, Finbarr and niece Iseult, her nieces-in-law Annemarie and Aideen, her grand-nieces and grand-nephews Catherine, Brian, Grace, Stephen, Eoin, Fiona, Elizabeth, and Joanna, and her 13 great-grand-nieces and nephews. Also by her cousins Helen and Mary Lou and extended family circle and friends. The Community and the family are very grateful to the staff of Cedar House for the wonderful care given to Sister Kevin over several years.May she Rest in Peace. Reposing in her Carmelite Monastery, Upper Kilmacud Road tommorow (Wednesday) from 2.00 to 6.00pm. Sr Mary Kevin’s funeral Mass will take place at 11.00am on Thursday 31st March in the Church of St Laurence O’Toole, Kilmacud followed by burial in the Carmelite Community Cemetery.
