HICKEY, (née McMahon), Joan. (Boreen an Tobair, South Circular Road, Limerick and formerly Leap, Skibbereen, Co. Cork. Retired Teacher, St. Paul’s National School, Dooradoyle). Peacefully after a short illness, at home, on March 27, 2022. Sadly missed by her loving husband Declan and daughters Olive, Sheila and Liz, sons-in-law Brian, Richard and Frank, adored grandchildren Emma, Siobhán, Tristan, Lucy, Kate and Chloe, by her sister Mary, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends, especially those in St. Paul’s Bridge Club. Predeceased by her brother Jim. Rest in Peace. Funeral arriving at St. Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Avenue tomorrow (Wednesday) for Requiem Mass at 12:30pm. This will be streamed live on the Parish Website. Burial afterwards in Castlemungret Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to St. Vincent de Paul. HICKEY - Joan (née McMahon) (South Circular Road, Limerick and formerly of Leap, Co. Cork) – March 27, 2022. As we approach the First Anniversary of our beloved Joan’s passing, her family Declan, Olive, Sheila and Liz offer our sincere thanks to everybody who sympathised with us and offered support during this sad time. We thank everyone who called to the house, came to the funeral, sent messages of sympathy and rang us. We wish to thank Fr. Liam Enright for celebrating her funeral mass and offering help and kindness to us. We would like to thank Joan’s wonderful friends from St. Paul’s Bridge Club who formed a guard of honour at St. Joseph’s Church. Thank you to organist Peter Barley for his wonderful playing during the funeral mass. We acknowledge the care and sensitivity which Mr. Tony Moloney and his team at UHL showed to Joan. We also wish to thank John-Mark Griffin and his staff at Griffin’s funeral home and Dr. Nicola Stapleton, Joan’s GP, and her staff for their kindness and professionalism at the time of Joan’s illness and death.
