LONG, Geraldine (née Benson), (Templeogue, Dublin 16, native of Ballisodare, Co. Sligo); winner of the Pigott Cup (Pianoforte), Sligo, 1941, and late of St. Dalmas Ltd., Dublin (1940’s-50’s). Friday, January 29th 2021, peacefully at home in her 95th year. Beloved and devoted wife of the late Dermot Long (d. August 31, 2019), much-loved mother of Patrick and Katie, sadly missed by her family, son-in-law Mick, her cherished granddaughters Gillian, Sophie and Clara, and each of their partners Eric, Adam and Ben, extended family (the Dublin Ryders, the Longs and Daly’s of Cork, cousins Laurie and Joseph Donnelly and especially her Benson relatives in Co. Sligo, of whom she was the adored last survivor of her original household), neighbours and friends. An absolute lady, like her mother ‘Nana’; a gentle and beautiful soul, with prejudice towards none. Rest in Peace. A private family funeral will take place due to government guidelines. For those who wish to view the funeral Mass at 11am on Saturday (6th February) please go to the following link https://youtu.be/9gKg203sz0M ‘Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild ‘ WBY
