I went to school with Fr Martin Downey at Colaiste Mhuire in Galway city. He was in my year at St Mary’s. He was a fine person and a caring and humble man. St Joseph’s was lucky to have him. He was the priest for my father and mothers funerals in the last few years and he did such a great job and he knew them well so it wasn’t your ordinary funeral but more like a kind of celebration- at least for me anyway. God will have Mercy on this good priest and I am certain that right now he is with the best of people in the best of places. May he rest in eternal peace and joy.
