Mc POLAND - Barney (late of Naas, Co. Kildare and Belfast) died November 19, 2022.
On the first anniversary of Barney’s death, his wife Kathleen, his children John, Brenda, Tony, Paddy and Maureen, their partners and his beloved grandchildren James, Ben, Amy, Isobel, Georgia and Adam would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised with us and supported us at the time of Barney’s passing. We would like to thank family, friends and especially those who travelled long distances to be with us on the day of the funeral. Your words, memories, and messages of sympathy were very important to us as a family. Our Mum Kathleen appreciates every card sent and every kind word said about her beloved Barney. The gestures of kindness shown to us will never be forgotten.
We wish to extend our gratitude to concelebrants Fr Alex Kochatt and Fr Paddy Hennessy, along with Norah King who provided incredible music at the funeral. We would also like to thank Naas GAA and the Knights of St Columbanus who provided guards of honour.
The people of Naas were very generous and the cortege to the graveyard, escorting Dad on his last journey in Naas remains as one of our outstanding memories of the funeral. Murphy’s Funeral Directors guided us with true kindness and professionalism.
A very special word of thanks is due to the many doctors, nurses and carers who looked after Dad for many years. In particular we would like to thank all the staff at Orwell Nursing Home who cared for Dad, and continue to care for our Mum Kathleen. Their dedication, kindness and care over the years extended their shared lives together.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually we trust this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
