We will miss Laurence, his sense of fun and his great mind. He was a beacon of culture and a dispenser of wisdom. His intellectual interests were rooted in his love of Irish culture and were enriched by ideas garnered in his life in America. We remember great friendship, great discussions, great journeying and great fellowship around so many tables. Go raibh maith agat, a Labhrás, as an saol a chaith tú linn. Laurence and Barbara were friends of ours for 37 years and are now sorely missed. We send our condolences to Laurence's sisters and to Barbara's sisters and to all their families. We express our solidarity with Laurence's great friends in America all of whom we have come to know of in discussions with Laurence over almost four decades. DAVID and LORRAINE O'HAGAN (Ireland).

Laurence was the love of our lives and spent every summer and much more with us in Athens, Georgia…life as we know it has been altered with his passing. Now we feel him to be inexhaustible like an ancient wine, and time has charged him with eternity!
