Condolences

I am very saddened by Tom's death and wish Sheila, Conal and Clare all strength and courage in their time of grief. Maria and I pray you find some consolation in your sorrow. Tom was a deeply thoughtful and gentle person of whom I was very fond and I am very sorry he has left us. His important contributions to Irish thought and to poetry will remain with us and be remembered with gratitude. He was a very considerate man, with enlivening humour, and he will be greatly missed.
