So very sad. when we had recently rekindled our interests and were looking forward to a further meeting in February. Words can't describe my loss, but my cartoon on Facebook will give those who knew him some idea.

As an archaeologist I've experienced no greater pleasure in my life than standing with Peter in the middle of a field in Donegal and discussing what might be under the sod. Condolences from another North Down man - Ian Magee

Peter was one of the first people who helped me to understand what archaeology was about and without him, and you, I doubt I would have ended up in the profession. Anne (Wardman) Given Belfast

Peter will be sorely missed. He was Mister Mesolithic and an inspiration to many. I shall never forget his kindness to me when I was doing my PhD and spending many happy months in the Ulster Museum back in the 1970s-80s. My condolences.

So sorry to hear of Peter Woodman's passing. Claudia and I send our condolences to Toni and the children, who we met in 1981 and travelled to the Antrim beach. Peter gave Claudia and me the opportunity to study the prehistory of Waterford
