Tadhg

From someone who knew you peripherally through being in the same union and teaching on opposite banks of the same canal

You were a peer of JFK even if you never met. Unlike him, you didn't have to fight in a war but you witnessed the scourge of emigration in Ireland. Although your canvas wasn't as large or public as his, you tried in your own way to make the world around you a better place. Given the years which he was denied, you witnessed world history from 1963 and things like watching your family grow. JFK once spoke on how he would reflect on matters when he retired. Happily your well-earned retirement turned out to be a fulfilling one, like your career

Paul Holland, Co Galway
