I just learned this after I signed up for a 2019 Rules School and wanted to update my connection with Barry's blog. I too never met him, but enjoyed all of his writing. Very sad news. Rest in peace!

I never met Barry but always respected his reasoned and wise responses to golf issues around the rules of golf. Only found out today of his passing whilst checking some of the rules effective in January. R.I.P. Barry from Graham Pattinson,.

Sad news! I never met Barry in person but his emails even on the weirdest golf rules questions were answered almost immediately. I really enjoyed his awesome collection of difficult questions. Rest in piece!

Didn't meet Barry only corresponded with him through his golf rules items. Feel I lost a friend. The world of golf will be the poorer, the loss of his knowledge and expertise in educating golfers everywhere will leave a huge gap. Gill Cronin
