LINEHAN Fergus - On the eve of what would have been his 83rd birthday, Rosaleen, Hugh, Evanna, Fergus, Conor and families wish to thank the many people who gave us such overwhelming support following the loss last November of our beloved husband, Dad and Papa. We are especially grateful to Dr. Brigid Sheehy and Prof. Malachi McKenna for the loving and professional care they gave to Fergus over many years. We also wish to express our deep gratitude to the staff of the Cara ward of St. Vincent's Private Hospital for taking care of us all so tenderly in the final weeks. We feel very fortunate that Fergus's cousin, Canon Donal Linehan, was able to celebrate the funeral Mass and be a great comfort to us. Thanks also to the Parish of St. John the Baptist, Blackrock, particularly Fr. John Delany, to Brian Carnegie and to the musicians who helped give Fergus such a celebratory farewell. The relatives, friends, colleagues and neighbours who came to the house to say goodbye, and the many more who attended the funeral Mass, were also a source of great comfort. His friends and collaborators from the world of theatre, his colleagues from The Irish Times and his great pals from the Theatrical Cavaliers Cricket Club who provided the guard of honour all reminded us of the affection and respect he earned over the years. In the seven months since, we have felt supported and loved by your letters, Mass cards and acts of kindness. To you all our heartfelt thanks.
