McGANN, Dermot A.J (Derry) (Portlaoise and formerly Attymon Co. Galway) - December 18th 2020, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the Blackrock Clinic. Loving husband of Miriam (Daly), brother of Nuala and adored Dad, granddad and great- granddad. Predeceased by his son Niall. He will be very sadly missed by his wife Miriam, daughters Marisa, Susan, Olga. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to The Irish Kidney Association. Given the current exceptional circumstances and to protect the welfare of everyone who knew him, a private funeral, with immediate family only, will take place at 12 noon on today (Monday) in St. Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise and will be streamed on the webcam http://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/web-cam/. Burial will follow in Deans Grange Cemetery at 11 am on Tuesday morning.

Galway, Late of Telecom Eireann, Past President of Portlaoise Rotary, Past Captain and President Heath Golf Club) - On Dermot’s Second Anniversary, we wish to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the many expressions of sympathy and kindness we received following the death of a truly loved husband to Miriam and adored Dad, Granddad and Great Granddad to his daughters Marisa, Susan, Olga, sons-in-law Diarmuid, Bernard, Martin, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sincere thanks to those who travelled to Dermot’s funeral during those difficult Covid times, who watched on-line here and abroad. A special thanks to those who told us wonderful stories of precious times spent with Dermot. Sincere thanks to former colleagues of Dermot from Telecom Eireann, members of Portlaoise Rotary and The Heath Golf Club for their support and kind words. We wish to thank all those who cared for Dermot - Mr. Stephen O’Connor and Dr.Jonathan Lyne and support staff of The Cardiac Unit in The Blackrock Clinic, Mr. Eoin Bergin and staff in The Renal Unit Tullamore Hospital, Ger Farrell and staff in The Wellstone Clinic Portlaoise.

Many thanks to Monsignor Byrne and Fr David for a special mass and kind words, to Nuala Kelly for her beautiful music played in the old traditional style that Dermot loved. Sincere thanks to Matthew Keegan and Keegan Funeral Homes for treating us with utmost kindness and Dermot with tremendous respect. Please accept this acknowledgement as a sincere appreciation of our thanks.
