KING - (Née Kennedy) Patricia. In sad and loving memory of Patricia of Ranelagh, Dublin, and Bishop Street Tuam. Also to acknowledge her late husband Gerard King (R.I.P. January 28, 2024) of Gilmartin Road Tuam.
Pat and Gerry were honoured with the presence at their obsequies by a representative of our Uachtarán na hÉireann Michael D. Higgins.
Pats parents Hugh P. and Anne J. Kennedy and her sister Pauline Murphy (R.I.P. July 7, 1964) predeceased her. Grief for Paulines early death was part of Pats and her families life.
Gerry was well known as a school principal and INTO activist in Bangor Erris N.S, Lavally N.S. and Cahergal and in town in Tuam.
As a speech and drama teacher in schools and in her home demonstrated her excellence as an educator and she was well respected in her community.
Gerry and Pat were leading lights for many years in the Tuam Theatre Guild bringing many awards to Tuam. Both contributed immeasurably to the local cathedral particularly with wonderful readings on Palm Sunday and other Easter ceremonies.
An enormous tribute was paid to them both by the formal presence of the attache of Uachtarán na hÉireann. Informally both Michael and Sabina have acknowledged their work in the West of Ireland.
The people of Tuam appreciated them greatly as well as the King family of Tuam, Florida, NY city and particularly John who like Gerry remained in his local community.
Pat and Gerry are sadly missed by their five children Feargal, Paula, Louise, Celine, Aodhán and their extended family.
Inserted on behalf of the King and Kennedy family by Thérèse Kearney- Pats sister Terrie.
