FLYNN - MARION (née RYAN) - 2 Thornville, North Circular Road, Limerick RIP 25/02/23. On the occasion of Marion’s First Anniversary, her husband Stephen and her children Conor, Sarah, David, Patrick and Kate wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to so many people, To our extended families including daughters and sons-in-law, all her adored grandchildren and our friends and neighbours, for their support during Marion’s protracted illness which was borne with faith and fortitude. To Fr. William Fennelly OSB, with whom she had a special, perhaps conspiratorial bond, since his childhood, for the sensitive manner in which he conducted her Funeral Mass, including a few smiles or chuckles., of which she would have approved. To Fr Des McAulife and Fr Tom Ryan of the Holy Rosary Parish, for their kind support through those years and now. To our GP Dr Michael Aherne and his colleagues, past and present at Abbey River House Practice, for their kindness, wisdom and forbearance through the years, and over the last 12 months. To those members of the Nursing and Carers Staff at Milford Care Centre, who went the extra mile with their lovingly care for Marion, especially during Covid 19, with humour, affection and kindness. That bond meant so much. To Marion’s sister Noirin Ni Riain, and nephew Micheál ‘Moley’ O’Suileabhan and accompanist Michael O’Brien for their unique and beautiful musical contribution, which she would have loved. To John Thompson Undertaker, and his Colleagues for sensitively guiding us and also to the Parish Clerk Margaret Clifford for behind the scenes organisation. To two other very special people who helped so much to make the hard times more tolerable. Marion’s loyal friend, companion, carer and namesake Mar (Brophy), and her patient, faithful and ever available cousin Carmel (Sheridan), who came so often to Thornville and Milford House – and usually read her the Irish Times.
To all who attended her Funeral Mass, visited her in Repose at home and sent Mass cards and messages of sympathy. Thank you all. While reading those messages does not stop the pain, it does soften it and reminds us of a deeply loved, loving and selfless wife of 57 years, mother, and grandmother. As well as a life given to charity and service, usually unheralded, from Adapt, to the Variety Club of Ireland, to the Citizens Information Service. So many remembered her being there to help and advise 24 hrs per day, as our Family Practice began and grew from the early 1970’s. It is not possible to respond individually to everyone, but the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Mass in celebration of Marion’s life will take place at 11.30 am on her Anniversary Sunday February 25, 2024 at The Church of the Holy Rosary, Ennis Rd, Limerick.
