DALY Cardinal Cahal Brendan (Belfast, Loughguile, Oxford, Ballycastle, Randalstown, Eglinton, Keadue) - died December 31, 2009. On the occasion of the first anniversary of his death, his brother Patrick, his sister Rosaleen, sisters-in-law Barbara and Mavis and the extended family of the late Cardinal Cahal Daly wish to express their appreciation of the support and prayers offered during the Cardinal's final, brief illness and at the time of his death. In particular, they acknowledge Dr Gerard Murtagh, Dr Brian Maurer and the doctors and nurses of the Belfast City and St Vincent's Hospitals, for their sensitive and excellent care; Cardinal Sean Brady, his fellow Cardinals in Ireland, Britain, Europe and North America and other members of the episcopate; the Bishops, priests and religious of his former dioceses of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise and of Down and Connor and those of the Archdiocese of Armagh; the laity of these dioceses, especially those who contributed to the liturgical music and to the catering, the guards-of-honour, pall-bearers and stewards; the representatives of other Christian denominations and those of other faiths; President Mary McAleese, Taoiseach Brian Cowan, Mr Shaun Woodward and other public figures; the PSNI and the undertakers who managed the funeral arrangements with sensitivity and professionalism.
