McARDLE, Professor Patrick (Taylor’s Hill and formerly of Ardilaun Road, Newcastle, Galway and Drogheda, Co. Louth) - January 2, 2024, Patrick (Pat) died at home, unexpectedly and peacefully in the care of his family. Beloved husband of Aideen. Pat was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, relative, friend, teacher and mentor. Deeply mourned by his wife and children; Orla and her husband Ronan, Eoin and his wife Aoife, Aideen Óg and her partner Noel, grandchildren Brendan, Patrick and Ethan, siblings Jim, Paul, Tom, Peter, Breege, Margaret, Mary and Jackie, their families, the McInerney family, and friends. Mourned too by colleagues and students at the University of Galway, where as Professor of Inorganic Chemistry he found great joy in teaching and research. Reposing at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91V1K8) today (Friday) January 5 from 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Removal from his home tomorrow (Saturday) to arrive at St. Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road, H91 YA30 in advance of a Requiem Mass therein at 11 a.m. Following Mass Pat will be laid to rest in Rahoon cemetery. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
