DOWNING, Maeve (née Breen) (Terenure, Dublin) December 31, 2017 (peacefully) at home, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Maurice, Brig. Gen (rtd). She will be sadly missed by her husband, daughters Margaret (Byrne) and Maeve (Ryan), sons John, Maurice, Paul and Finbarr, her fifteen grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace. Funeral Mass tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11.00 am. in Terenure College Chapel, followed by burial at Bohernabreena Cemetery. No flowers please. House private. Dublin) (December 31, 2017)- On the First Anniversary of Maeve's death, her husband Maurice and children Margaret (Byrne), Maeve (Ryan), John, Maurice, Paul and Finbarr, and their families would like to thank everyone who sympathised with us on the passing of our much-loved wife, mother and grandmother, in her 87th year. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who attended her funeral, wrote such beautiful letters or sent messages to us all. Thanks to Fr. Bob Kelly O.Carm., who celebrated Maeve's life so well during the funeral Mass. Also, thanks to Fr. Bob and all the Carmelite community at Terenure College for their kindness, spiritual support and friendship to Maeve and our family over many years. We are deeply grateful to those who helped in any way during Maeve's long illness; A special thanks to Dr. Billy Twomey, to care teams at Applewood Homecare, the Riverside Nursing Home, Swords and Pioneer Homecare who all provided care to Maeve in her final years. Please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Maeve's First Anniversary Mass will take place on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 11am in Terenure College Chapel.</p>
