BARRETT, Michael (retired Garda Sergeant) (Bray, Co. Wicklow and late of Ballinahaglish, Ballina, Co. Mayo) - Died peacefully on 4th January 2024 at Blackrock Clinic, following a short illness. Predeceased by his parents Martin and Annie Barrett, his cousin Gerald Coggins, and his recently deceased brothers Paddy and Gerry. Dearly loved husband and best friend of Della (née Dowling, Athlone) and proud and cherished dad of Conor, Gavin, and Max. Darling ‘Mikey’ to his nine grandchildren, Max, Maria, Marie-Hélène, Stéphane, Sébastien, Matthieu, Athena, Petros, and Mikhalis. Loving father-in-law to Anne, Madeleine, and Agapi; and beloved sister of Margaret (McCullough, Swinford). Deeply missed by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends, and the extended Barrett and Dowling families. The family would like to acknowledge the care and support received from the wonderful staff at the ICU Unit, Blackrock Clinic. Reposing at home on Sunday, 7th January, from 2pm-4pm. Remains arriving at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Putland Road, Bray for funeral Mass on Monday, 8th January, at 12 midday, followed by burial at Redford Cemetery, Greystones, Co Wicklow. ‘Thank-you for the days, those endless days, the days you gave me’.

Della, Conor, Gavin, Max and their families, wish to acknowledge with deep appreciation all those who sympathised with us by calling to our house, the large number of people who attended his Funeral Mass from near and far, those who sent Mass cards, flowers, letters of condolence and those who placed messages on R.I.P. ie. We thank especially the large number of Michael's former Garda colleagues who were present. A very special thank you to Fr. Richard Sheehy for celebrating Michael's Funeral Mass and to Rev. Sean Hanily for joining us. Mass has been offered for all of your intentions with gratitude.
