Deepest sympathy from O'Gradys in New Zealand

To the family of Rev Edmund O'Keefe S J.

First we wish to offer your families our prayers and love in the loss of Edmund. I found that he had recently passed away because I was reading the 'History of the O'Gradys of Clare and Limerick' book by Gerard Madden and I noticed that Edmund had done the research of our O'Grady line beginning with Daniel O'Grady of Cooga who died in 1800 in Tulla, and mentioning Edel Quin's missionary work in Nairobi. I was so happy to find that Edmund had this information, but then sad to learn that he had just recently passed away.

I wish you to know that Edmund's research is truly invaluable to us in NZ in tracing our Irish history. We are descended from Thomas O'Grady who emigrated to NZ in 1861. His parents were Daniel O'Grady and Bridget O'Loughlin who married around 1830s. This Daniel is not included in the book and it seems to me the only possible line he could be from is James or Edmond O'Grady- sons of Daniel O'Grady and Bridget Finucane of Shore Park, Kildysart. I am assuming (from the book) the O'Keefes are descended from Thomas O'Grady, son of Daniel of Cooga who died in 1800.

Apologies for rambling on at this time, but I was hoping someone in your family may be able to help us further. I would so appreciate a connection to further our O'Grady story.

I'm not sure how to leave a contact here, but will leave my email address.

Kindest sympathy and sincerely Ann O'Grady

annmogrady@yahoo.co.nz
