KING, Annette (Dublin and Puerto Santa Maria, Cádiz, Spain) 7th July 2025, “una guerrera”, peacefully at her sister’s home in Dublin, following a short illness, far away from Spain, her adored home for 50 years, “ubi bene ibi patria”. Graduate in Latin and Spanish (UCD) and Medicine (University of Cádiz). Predeceased by her husband José Manuel (Pepé) de Berraquero, her sister Carmel and her parents Julia and James. Annette will be forever loved and missed by her sisters Mary, Therese and Sheila, her brother Charles, brothers-in law Rory and Joe, sister-in-law Rita, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins and friends in Ireland. She will also be greatly missed by Miriam, Juan- Luis, Adriano and Francisco who helped keep her home in Spain so beautiful and by her many cherished friends in Spain, North America and beyond. The family would like to express their gratitude to Professor Adrian Murphy and the Oncology Team at Beaumont Hospital, Dr Sean O’ Riordan at St Vincent's University Hospital , the HSE Baggot Street and Inis Homecare Teams, the Blackrock Hospice, Dr Enda Ryan and team at Merrion Gates Medical and the Team at Byrnes Life Pharmacy Ballsbridge. In accordance with Annette’s wishes a private family funeral has taken place. Que Descanse En Paz.

I was a pupil of hers in the late 1970s at the Jesuit Colegio de San Luis Gonzaga of El Puerto de Santa María, in Cádiz (Spain). She taught us English in our two last school years before going to University. Rest in Peace.
