O DONOGHUE, Brendan (MRIA) (Mount Merrion Co. Dublin), Sept 4 2019. Former Secretary, Department of Environment and Local Government, former Director of the National Library of Ireland. Peacefully in the tender care of the staff in the ICU at the Blackrock Clinic, Dublin after a short illness. Beloved husband and best friend of Bernie (Bernadette née Aylward), loving father of Keelin (CUMH, UCC and Cork). Son of the late Liam and Mary O Donoghue of Bandon, Co. Cork. Very sadly missed by his dear wife and daughter, brother-in-law Michael (Aylward) and his wife Mary and family, extended family, former colleagues and a wide circle of friends. Peace at the last. Requiem Mass will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 11.30 am in the Church of St. Thérèse, Mount Merrion and afterwards to St. Colmcilles Cemetery, Swords for burial.
