McCARTHY Denis F. (Died October 21, 2013) - At this time of the First Anniversary of Denis's passing, Mary, Peter, John and Lisa and the extended family would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped us through this difficult year. We would like to thank those who attended the celebrations of his life in Ballincollig and in Ballinasloe, particularly those who travelled long distances to be there. We would like to thank all those family, friends, colleagues and neighbours who sympathised with us or who contacted us in any way, in person, by phone, text, and email, your comforting words were a great help to us at this time. Most particularly we would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Cork University Hospital and St Finbarr's Hospital, whose compassionate care enabled Denis to die with dignity and at peace. His family doctors, John Dromey and Joe Hartnett and partners were wonderfully caring and supportive over many years. We are also deeply grateful to Dr. Mary Cahill and Dr. Norma Harnedy. Our thanks to Denis's nephew Fr. Pat Stevenson whose guiding hand helped us over the several days of mourning. Finally special thanks to our old friends the Rothwell family undertakers in Ballinasloe who organised the funeral arrangements in such a discrete and dignified way. Denis was always at his best when surrounded by people, especially those he loved and would have appreciated the effort made by so many to say their final farewell to him. Denis's First Anniversary Mass will be held at 6.00pm this (Saturday) evening, in the Church of St. Mary and St. John, Ballincollig, Cork.
