O'CONNOR Marguerite (Derrynane Beg, Caherdaniel, Co. Kerry, September 11, 1985 - May 3, 2009) - David and Mary, Sarah, Michael, Gabrielle and grandmother Margaret wish to express their deep gratitude to everyone who sympathised with us on the loss of our beloved Marguerite. We wish to thank all the people who visited our home, attended the removal to St. Crohan's Church and the funeral, all those who travelled long distances, those who wrote us such beautiful letters, sent Mass cards, messages of condolence, floral tributes, and those who donated to Marguerite's charity, Sight Savers, all our relatives and friends for their love and support. Our parish priest and chief celebrant Fr. Fergal Ryan for his care and his beautiful homily and to all the priests who concelebrated the Mass - our cousin Fr. Joe Nolan, Fr. Mossie Brick, Fr. O'Leary, Fr. Niall Howard and Fr. Joe Coghlan, Chaplain UCC. Janet Harbison who played the harp so movingly on the evening of the removal, Marion O'Neill and Gerard Kennedy who consoled everyone with their beautiful singing and John Dowling for singing at Marguerite's graveside. The Taoiseach's Aide de Camp Commandant Michael Treacy and Director of the European Commission Martin Territt. Marguerite's friends from at home and abroad and especially all her friends in UCC, UCD, St. Louis University and Coláiste Na Scelige, the teachers and children of Caherdaniel National School for their guard of honour. Tomas Coolahan and Gerald O'Sullivan Undertakers for their kindness in dealing with the arrangements and to all who prepared and looked after her grave so caringly. Our wonderful community and our great neighbours and friends who helped us in every way, especially all who helped us at home, and all our colleagues at the hotel. All the members of our community who directed traffic at the removal and funeral and the gardaí who escorted her remains to the Church and graveyard, the emergency services and the medical team at St. Luc's Hospital, Brussels, Fr. Paddy, Commissioner Charlie McGreevy, Ambassador Brian Nason, Ann O'Sullivan Dooley, Kieran Dooley, Bernie Kilcoyne, Martin Power, Dominique Baudoux, Raphael Philips, Frank and Margot Wall, John O'Donoghue, Paul O'Donoghue, Dr. Waterhouse and Marie Ní Bhroin, all of whom assisted us in Brussels from the moment of Marguerite's accident. All her wonderful friends and fellow stagieres in The European Commission, Ann and Bernie who organised the beautiful Memorial Mass in Brussels and all the Irish and European community who attended and offered their sympathy and support, Fr. Paddy, the wonderful Irish musicians, all her friends who read at the Mass and a very special thank you to Charlie McGreevy for his wonderful tribute to Marguerite. Fr. Joe Coghlan, Chaplain of UCC, and the Honan Folk Group for the beautiful Memorial Mass in Honan Chapel. President of UCC Dr. Michael Murphy, Head of the Law Department, Prof. Stephen Hedley, Prof. Irene Lynch Fannon, Head, College of Business and Law and all the professors, students and friends who attended. A special thank you to Dr. Ursula Kilkelly, Director of the BCL (International) Programme at the Faculty of Law UCC for her moving tribute to Marguerite; to Marguerite's friends in UCD for their Memorial Mass and all who attended. We wish to express our deep gratitude to all Marguerite's friends who visit and keep in regular contact with us and all our relatives and friends who continue to support us. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our sincerest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions. 'Suaimhneas Siorai da h'anam uasal dilis'. Marguerite's First Anniversary Mass will be offered on Sunday May 2nd at 9.30am in St. Crohan's Church Caherdaniel.
