SANDFORD, Gerry (Greystones, and formerly of the Sunday Tribune and Irish Times) - June 22, 2015. Amid the care and kindness of the extraordinary staff of the Cedar Ward, St Vincent's Private Hospital, and in the loving embrace of the most treasured people in his life. Beloved husband of Ros, adored father of Demian, cherished stepfather of Nick and proud grandfather ('Papa G') of baby Max. Gerry leaves an incalculable void in the lives of all who knew him - his brother Sean and all his siblings; his in-laws, especially Pauline, Alan, Patricia and Ros's parents, Marion and Jim; and his many friends from times past and present. Gerry's funeral service will take place at 3.30pm this Thursday at Mount Jerome, an occasion to mourn his passing and give thanks for a life lived passionately and honestly. And full of love, courage, laughter - and great joy. 'Always'

Gerry's old friends from TO London are heartbroken to hear of the news of his death. He was such a mentor and friend. Our sadness is only tempered by the knowledge that he enjoyed such bliss later in life with Ros and all their loved ones.

<p>Farewell, good friend</p> <div>This parting is unbearably sad. A good man, a true and close friend — your absence, Gerry, will leave a void that can't be filled. But there will always be the memories, always that sense of your enthusiasm for life and your generous heart. Farewell, good friend.</div> <div>Basil and Ann-Marie</div>
