I don’t know if the family will get to read this message. Ms McCallig was my Kindergarden teacher & for first 4 years at school at Eccles St. She was fabulous, loved her, fond memories. My sympathies- Eileen O’Sullivwn

I am family ancestry

My message disappeared, compliments of internet. Here I go again!

I am family, McCalligs who immigrated to Oregon. I made a trip, about 1995, to Ireland where Eithne McCallig brought me to our family ancestral property, no longer owned by McCalligs on St. John's Point. It was an emotional event for me. She even helped me pry 2 rocks from the remaining foundation to bring home, part of my fireplace mantel. I have a few photos too. Denis gave my sis a book about Donegal, when she & her husband briefly visited Donegal, which I truly treasure.

Please tell me about the family, past, present, whatever. My last wish is to go to see Donegal CO & St. Johns Point again & Bruckless & meet my current relatives.

My dad, John James McCallig became a physician in Portland. He was in college when his dad, William died. His mom was Elizabeth Saub McCallig.

My family history is really important to me. I used the internet a few years ago to contact a college-age student with our last name. I know he was related, but freaked when he responded. I was afraid Eithne would be displeased that I went beyond her control of info to me. Now that Eithne is gone, I am pursuing my quest again. Please help.

Patricia McCallig Bates

pmccalig@gmail.com

RIP

Ms McCallig thought me when I was 9 in St Marys college 20 years ago. I will always remember her as a really nice woman and my favourite teacher.

She never lost her temper and was a great teacher.
