I remember David Lane as a registrar to Mr.Frizelle at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. I was a Theatre Staff Nurse. He was an immaculate surgeon, I also remember him playing his oboe, especially "The Gentle Maiden". Many years have passed and I am only now seeing this Obituary. R.I.P.

Susan Patricia Lewis (Formerly Cronin).

He was an inspirational character, even in our shared schooldays - so many years ago. He made his mark at Oakham and, later, to the worlds of medicine and music in Ireland. So pleased that we saw each other earlier this year. Geoffrey Iley
