ROSS, Patricia (Paddy) Ruth - Paddy Ross (co-founder of Brook House School and fund raiser for, and patron of The Royal Hospital, Donnybrook), after many years of considerable pain and restricted mobility, selflessly and bravely borne at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital on August 22, 2012. Greatly loved by her family: her sons David and Mark, their wives Kate and Andy, her grandchildren Gary, Marcus, Damian, Susie and Tim and her brother Robin Reilly. She affected many lives and deserves her peace.

A lady to her fingertips, and, like her husband, a delightfully good influence on so many of us down through the years. I'm hugely privileged to have known Mr & Mrs Ross. Love to the family!

Message to David and Mark

I was so sorry to hear that your mother has passed away. I 've left another message on the Irish Times site.

Now, so belatedly, I can say how sad I was to learn of your father's death, some time ago.

I hated school but I loved your father - he was an inspirational headmaster who laid the foundation for my exceptionally good education.

My father, no longer with us, told me that Louis de Gardelle had gone and I discovered that Kitty Hassard had too. I suppose that most of the masters and mistresses I knew have gone.

Kitty turned up on a moped one day and we all laughed so much that, about three days later, she just walked to school, as she had done before.

Louis will have gone to that great crow's nest in the sky - well, he always told us, after his latest motoring accident, that he'd landed in a crow's nest and he, in his Ford Anglia, had many accidents.

With fond memories of both your parents,

Yours sincerely,

Harry Roberts

P.S., David, I've never quite forgiven you for making me think that I was doing quite well against you at table tennis when, after beating me, you revealed that you had been playing left-handed.
