Roger

Only just found out and accidentally at that. Knew Roger here in Barbados and worked with him on many west coast projects, he asked me for architectural advice many times and I was always glad to give it; I think his patience was tested to the limit out here, dealing with clients and contractors. He had a particular disconnected style in dealing with difficult jobs, managing to raise himself above the problems of building sites and personalities. He had a clever humour, sometimes you weren't sure if he was joking and I'm sure he was pleased knowing that his wit confounded people. Lost touch with him after he left Barbados. Incisive comments were the norm, always cut through the nonsense in an argument, never held assumptions.

Frank Johnson

Missing Roger

Dear Friends and Family of Roger,

Roger was a very special person… unique in every way, there was truly no one else like him. He had an aura of magic around him and everything that he did which made him such a presence to be around. Never a dull moment with him. He was a very dear and old friend to my family, but him and I connected over these past three years and shared a kindred spirit. I was lucky enough to meet up with him only twice in my life- once in London and last Spring in Marrakech. That trip to Morocco will stay with me forever, and I will always remember the enchantment that lived within Roger and in the way he lived. I have no contact information for Roger, so if any of his friends or family would like to get in touch, please do not hesitate. I would love to stay connected to him and his circle in some way. I am missing you very much, uncle rog.

Alexandria

Email: hejazal@gmail.com

Dear Roger's death...

Dear family members - I was so very sorry to read of Roger's death in Ireland. I made contact with him before a recent visit to Kilkenny and we had a wonderful day together after a 20 year interruption in our friendship. He looked so well and I cannot believe he has left us. If you are able to tell me more I would much appreciate it in the absence of a funeral which I understand may have happened by now. He was such fun and a dear man....he was involved in a number of aspects of the arts in which I was heavily involved and I shall miss him very much. Please accept my sincere condolences and warm wishes - Denise Fiennes The Cottage, High Street, Wickham Market, Suffolk IP13 0QY 0771 4000 169
